  First On-Screen Crush?

  many years ago, we lived in a world where the one tv in your house might be black and white, perhaps color if you were lucky, but either way the screen was small and the arial on your house would struggle to deliver a decent signal but often fail in a fuzzy mess.

  most of the movies you saw were old, there was no home video or rental - you got a chance to see something and then it was gone.

  planning your viewing was important to make sure you didn't miss something so you'd carefully scan the tv guide to pick out your favourites ... good job there were only 2 or 3 channels to look through.. but you could still see quality if you went to the movie theatre and there you got to see glorious film on a giant screen (which is only now being equalled quality wise).

  if you ever said anything inappropriate or what might be considered offensive, then you must apologize.

  if you possibly could have hurt someone’s feelings, you need to say sorry.

  The Not Being Sorry For Anything trend also brings out a lot of assholes and gives them a platform. And often political office.

  People are better off just practicing some humility, empathy and kindness and stop trying to make headlines.

  i was seeing a jw man for about a year and a half until l broke it off with him last week.

  we met on a dating site.

  Some of these on the fencers are quite disingenuous and pretentious in their daily social interaction with others.
  

  Ne'er a truer word and in fact in many cases an understatement.

  Once you crack the seal to a box of lies you just cant stop eating.

  The JW person in my life just kept piling them on. What's another lie when you've already told so many? What a life - covering your tracks all the time, looking over your shoulder.

  Becomes a running joke when they simultaneously rabbit on about being in the Truth.

  Some small parts of this story parallel my own, at least in terms of the nature of the person I was involved with.

  A really poor JW, Prior to our meeting led a secret life of cheating, bad behaviour, and kept being forgiven as 'we are all imperfect'. Sin - forgive - sin - rinse and repeat. No learning curve whatsoever. Still hasn't got one. Always falls back on the imperfect excuse. Wasn't even DFed for her affair with me. They are really handing out 'slap on the wrist' level stuff now.

  She stayed in because her family and friends are there. Doesn't have the mental or emotional ability to let go and live a normal worldly life that her character is much better suited to. Occasionally overindulges in 'worldly' vices then crawls back. Is a born in who never knew a normal existence. That's the only thing I can use to find some level of forgiveness in myself. She was given no choice, but boy did she turn out to be a terrible Christian.

  At 50 yrs of age she would either know right from wrong by now, but she's brainwashed.

  You have to run from these types or you become a victim too.

  Always puzzled me why this grubby family has gotten away with so much and operate within a vulgar level of decadence.

  They have no innate leadership qualities whatsoever.

  The argument is that they bring in so many tourist dollars from those who love the pageantry etc etc bleh bleh.

  But surely society can do better.

  The fawning over them from some circles is vomit inducing.

  Ironic, given the amount of acting and deception that goes on within JW, at all levels.

  How Much of the WT Teaching Did You Believe?

  some people on this forum have said that they never really believed any aspect of wt teaching, that they couldn't wait to get free of it all.. others seems to have been really gung ho, believing it all until something happened that got you questioning "the truth.".

  i would say my own high water mark was about 50%, which put me squarely on the fence, trying to decide if i should be in or out.. how about you?.
